KID'S BIKE CAMPS

Do you have a little shredder who can't wait to hit the trails this summer? Tahoe Mountain Bike Academy's (TMBA) Kid's Bike Camps are perfect for young children who are physically and mentally ready to spend five back-to-back days taking lessons! These camps are designed to teach your little shredder the fundamentals of mountain biking while helping them improve their balance, control, and confidence on the bike. Each day, they will learn a new skill, then take it to the trail to practice. Over the week, they will also learn tips for trail etiquette and general bike maintenance. Your child must be able to ride a 20" bike, confidently operate hand brakes, and balance safely on their bike-both seated and while standing on the pedals.

Daily Camp Hours: 9 a.m. - 12 noon

Camp cost includes: Private instruction, kid's t-shirt, snacks, stickers.

​​Who can attend? Kids who have taken private lessons from TMBA or passed an initial TMBA riding assessment can attend the camps. Kids new to TMBA will need approval before attending to ensure their abilities match other campers' abilities. We feel it's vital that kids attending our camps have similar levels and skills to ensure consistent progression with their riding!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Which camp is right for my child? To register for Level 2 and 3 camps, kids must have completed a level 1 week-long camp with us last season or earlier this summer.

What to expect: The main goal of these camps is to help your kids develop their mountain biking skills, learn a new skill each day and build upon it out on the trails. Skills will be broken down into easy to understand steps, followed by plenty of opportunity to ride and explore.

 

Length of daily session: Daily sessions start at 9am, and wrap up at 12 noon. 

Required riding gear: Bike with at least 20" mtb tires, gears and hand brakes, hydration pack, water, snacks, helmet, eye protection, gloves, closed toe shoes.

Level 1:  Our Level 1 camps are focused on kids newer to mountain biking and riding on single track dirt trails. Kids should be comfortable with riding a bike while out of the saddle/standing on pedals. We will introduce the fundamental mountain bike skills, and work on body position, balance, stability, and control while on the bike. These camps will help your child become a better, more confident rider when out on the trails.

Level 2: Level 2 camps are for kids who are working on their fundamental skills, have experience riding on single track dirt trails and can pedal for up to two hours. Kids should be comfortable with holding the ‘ready position’ for prolong periods during descents, etc. These camps will work on improving your child’s bike handling skills, and build them up to longer, more challenging & fun trail rides.

Level 3: Our Level 3 camps are geared towards kids who already possess and demonstrate a strong knowledge and understanding of the fundamental skills, can pedal confidently on dirt single track trails for two plus hours. These camps will focus on enhancing your child’s ability by riding/practicing more challenging terrain (technical ups/downs, drops, intro to jumping).
